C o u r s e s !

The bulk of our courses are those leading to a formal City & Guilds qualification, namely C&G 2377, 2382-12, 2392-10, 2393-10, and the new 2394-01, 2395-01 & 2396-01 for which we are an approved City & Guilds centre, and have an above average success rate. For further details of our courses, please see below.

As well from those formal courses listed above, we are also able to deliver many short courses in the area of Basic Electrical Safety & Awareness. These are usually tailor made to suit individual customers requirements, and if required can be delivered "in-house".

If you would like further details on any of our courses, or would like to discuss your particular training requirements in further detail, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The IET 17th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS:7671:2008)

This short course was originally developed to enable JIB registered electricians to become aware of the requirements of the then, 15th. Edition. Since that time, candidates other than JIB operatives have attended such courses, and it has now become a valuable qualification for all in the electrical industry and allied trades and professions. We consider this qualification a necessary entry requirement to the C&G 2391 and 2392  courses.

The program is of 24 hours duration, in which time the candidate will study all aspects of the Regulations including basic design procedures and the fundamentals of testing & inspection.  The final City & Guilds assessment is a two hour multiple choice on-line examination comprising 60 questions.

Courses will run subject to demand, and will be delivered one evening a week for 10 or 12 weeks, or one day a week for four weeks.

Please note: Course handouts will be provided, but candidates will be required to have their own copies of the 17th. Edition (BS7671:2008).

Fundamental Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations

This short course is ideal for those operatives who have little practical experience of inspection and testing. The content is generally applicable to smaller installations and fulfills the requirements of Initial Verification.

It is also a useful pre-cursor to attendance on the full C&G 2391-10 course.

During the course the candidate will need to:

1. Show practical competence in the area of inspection, testing & certification.

2. Undertake a City & Guilds on-line examination comprising a 100 minute 50 question, multiple choice test.

Success in both components results in a C&G 2392-10 Fundamental Inspection and Testing certificate.

Courses will run subject to demand and will be delivered one day a week for five weeks.

It is not considered wise to undertake this course unless candidates have attained C&G  17th Edition qualification. However, consideration, advice and guidance will be given to all interested applicants.

Please note: Course handouts will be provided, and although the final written assessment is ‘closed book’, candidates are advised to have their own copies of the 17th Edition (BS7671:2008) and the IEE Guidance note 3 on Inspection and testing.

Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings

This is a short, 1 day or 3 evenings course developed for all operatives involved with electrical work in dwellings.

The aim is to allow candidates to gain a knowledge and understanding of how electrical installations must comply with all the relevant Building Regulations.

This is a useful addition to both 17th Edition and Inspection and Testing qualifications and to an operatives CV.

The assessment is a 20 question, open book, on-line multiple-choice test based on the NICEIC / ECA and/or IET Electrical Installers guides to the Building Regulations. The course fee includes the provision of a copy of the NICEIC / ECA guide.

Courses will run subject to demand and will be delivered one day a week for five weeks or one evening a week for 10-12 weeks.

It is not considered wise for candidates to undertake this course unless they have experience in inspection and testing and have attained a C&G 2382-12, 17th Edition qualification. However, consideration, advice and guidance will be given to all interested applicants.
